CDFG funds Santa Paula Creek watershed planning project

The California Department of Fish and Game's Fisheries Restoration Grant Program has published the list of funded, contingency, and non-funded projects resulting from the 2005 project solicitation notice.  Among the funded proposals was the Santa Paula Creek Watershed Planning Project.  Santa Paula Creek is a major tributary to the Santa Clara River and historically provided significant high-quality southern steelhead spawning habitat; upstream passage is currently limited by two damaged fish ladders on the creek.  The project goal is to prepare a detailed watershed evaluation and assessment that culminates in the completion of an integrated plan containing site-specific and clearly prioritized recommendations for work that will lead to the restoration of southern steelhead passage and habitat in Santa Paula Creek.  The project lead grantee agency will be the Santa Paula Creek Fish Ladder Authority.
